The Willows Cochrane: Neighbourhood & Home Tour

The Willows Cochrane is one of those quiet, family friendly pockets on the south side of town that I love showing families who are moving to Alberta. In my video, I toured a fully finished two storey home in The Willows with a double attached garage, three bedrooms up, a bonus room, and a developed basement, and it's a great example of what family life can look like here. In this post, I'll walk you through that home room by room, share what the area is like, and help you decide whether The Willows belongs on your list.

Key takeaways

  • Location: the south side of Cochrane, part of the River Heights area, less than 30 minutes from Calgary.

  • The feel: quiet crescents and streets where mostly just the neighbours drive by.

  • The home I toured: just over 2,000 square feet, three bedrooms up, a bonus room, a fully finished basement with an office, and a double attached garage.

  • Price context: CREB's Cochrane detached benchmark was $657,600 in September 2026, a helpful anchor for two storey family homes like this one.

  • Best for: growing families who want space for everybody without giving up a quiet street.

Where is The Willows in Cochrane?

The Willows sits on the south side of Cochrane, part of the River Heights area alongside communities like Riversong, Riviera, and Precedence. It's a great spot if you want to be close to the Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Bow Valley High School, and the Bow River pathways, and Calgary is less than 30 minutes away.

If you've been thinking about moving to Alberta, maybe to the Calgary area, and Cochrane isn't on your radar yet, it should be. My guide to the best neighbourhoods in Cochrane is a great place to compare The Willows with the rest of town.

What it's like living in The Willows

The street in my tour is a little crescent, so it's quiet and not a pass through. Really, the only people driving by are the people who live there. At the end of the day, there were hardly any cars parked out front, which I always notice when I'm looking at a street for families with little ones.

Here's the thing, home matters, and so does the street it's on. A calm crescent where kids can ride their bikes is a big part of what makes The Willows feel so family friendly.

The Willows home tour: room by room

This home is just over 2,000 square feet above grade, with three bedrooms upstairs and a fully finished basement. For the size, it feels so spacious. Here's what stood out to me.

The kitchen

I had to show you the kitchen first because it just might be my favourite part of the whole home. It's bright, white, and clean, with so much counter space and so many drawers. There's a spacious island with the dishwasher, an upgraded granite composite sink and faucet, and off to the side, a wine accent area and a desk that could easily double as a work from home spot. There are even extra drawers for all the things that usually crowd your kitchen (we all have that drawer).

Dining and living room

The dining area fits a large table for eight, or a smaller round table if you'd rather. The living room has a gas fireplace, which is perfect on a cool fall evening when you want to curl up with a book or a movie before supper. The light floors and neutral paint make the whole main floor feel warm, welcoming, and inviting.

Back entry, mudroom, and double garage

The back entry is the one you'd use most, coming in from the double attached garage. There's a pantry with real solid shelves, a closet for storage, and a cute feature wall with board and hooks for everyone's coats. The garage easily fits two vehicles.

The powder room

This is not your ordinary powder room. An upgraded vanity with drawers and black accents, a shiplap wall, and a mirror with lighting. So many touches in this home go above builder grade, and it's really well done.

Bonus room

Right at the top of the stairs is the bonus room, the perfect hangout spot for movie nights, reading, and those long winter evenings when it gets dark early. There's even a designated linen closet in the hallway, which you don't always see in a home this size.

Primary suite

Walking into the primary suite, my first impression was calm. There's room for a queen bed, two bedside tables, and a dresser. The ensuite has a freestanding tub, a gorgeous tiled shower, a separate water closet, and a double vanity that's a little taller than standard (all the tall people, like me, will love that). The walk-in closet is bigger than you'd think, with tons of storage.

Upstairs laundry and main bath

The laundry room is upstairs, right where you want it, with a counter, storage, and a window for natural light. The main bath has extra linen shelves and a separate shower, toilet, and vanity area, which is so helpful when kids are getting ready at the same time.

Kids' bedrooms

The two secondary bedrooms are both a really good size, with closets that open fully. One has a cute little nook that would be perfect for books, and both feel bright and cheerful.

The fully finished basement

Downstairs, the basement is split between hard flooring and carpet. The open area works beautifully as a home gym, a playroom, or a second work from home space. There's also an office with a big window that could easily become a fourth bedroom.

Who is The Willows best for?

  • Growing families who need space for everybody, plus a bonus room and a basement.

  • Remote workers who want a real office or a work from home nook.

  • Families relocating to Alberta who want a quiet street close to the sports centre and the river pathways.

Every family is different, so if you're weighing The Willows against another community, I'd love to talk through what matters most to you.

The Cochrane market right now

Cochrane's overall benchmark price was $575,400 in September 2026, according to CREB, and the detached benchmark was $657,600. The market is balanced, leaning toward buyers, with more homes to choose from than last year, so there's room to compare and take your time.
